Tottenham Hotspur Football Club,
commonly known as Tottenham or Spurs, is a professional football club based in
Tottenham, London, England. The club has a rich and storied history, marked by
periods of great success and a long-standing reputation for playing an
attacking, stylish brand of football.Foundation and Early Years: Founded in 1882 by a group of schoolboys from a
local cricket club, the club was originally named "Hotspur F.C." The
name was changed to Tottenham Hotspur F.C. in 1884 to avoid confusion with
another club.Early Success: In 1901,
Tottenham won the FA Cup, becoming the only non-league club to do so since the
formation of the Football League in 1888. They gained promotion to the top
flight of English football in 1909.The "Double" and European
